Electric Scooter

Riding a bike is fun, skateboarding is fun, roller blades are fun; when there is speed meets wind, they are all fun to do and we have been used to them since early age. Scooter is the same as well but will be in the middle in terms of difficulties to ride between bicycle and a skateboard. They have handles which makes it easy to balance the body but still need a manual effort to kick the speed. The more modern electric scooter however, is both fun and convenient.

Electric scooter was a hype and we understand why since it requires less energy or effort to ride, it can be a great option for those who don’t want to sweat or just need a quick ride as a recreation. It is both ideal for small children and adults, but the model and capacity can be different. Adult electric scooters like Segway MiniPRO Vs Ninebot S are not only fun to ride but also designed as a transportation method, making it easier for users to arrive at a destination faster and with less sweat.

Children models are far more affordable and simpler in design or more similar to a kick scooter in comparison. Parents often give their children a scooter as a toy but safety is still a huge debate whether it is wise to give our children a toy that inherently has a risk that may injure our kids. Scooter is almost identical to bicycles for their level of risk and some say they are higher as well. In general whether it is a bicycle, skateboard, hoverboard, scooter, or electric scooter carry the typical risks.

This is why we need to be careful when giving the kids the toys and have to check the product properly as well. Small children are safer with a three wheel kick scooter as they are self-balancing for their young age. Most are light as well that even toddlers can lift by themselves while electric models are more suitable for older children who can already master the balance and control the speed. Electric scooter is a great option however if they will use it as a transportation tool.

Just like with a regular kick scooter, we recommend checking the braking system of the vehicle because they may come in various types and each one has their own pros and cons. For example the electric brake requires far less maintenance but they won’t be able to stop quickly or less responsive compared to other types. The tire will also affect their ride experience but in general air filled tires are more comfortable while solid tires are ideal for roads with harsh surfaces.

About Razor E300 and E325

If your kid is older and already mastered a kick scooter, an electric scooter is fairly safe with safety precautions such as maintaining a proper speed as well as wearing safety gear like a bike helmet. There are tons of options to choose from and most are very identical to each other which can be quite confusing at times. However, there are always one or two brands attracting your attention whether due to their popularity or their price point and design.

Plenty of brands but one that probably most of us are already familiar with is Razor. This kick scooter brand is not only everywhere but also because they are very affordable, making the brand a great start to see what the market has to offer. They are probably not the best in terms of quality and also riding comfort because you need to spend more for them yet we do think they are ideal for toys and typical applications to have fun with.

Among all the options, some are very different while many are also identical to each other. Chances are they are made newer or have slight material difference to cause such a price gap but in general many are pretty much the same to each other, such as the close brothers Razor E300 and E325. The two are on the same level and on the similar price range with the latter just slightly more expensive in comparison but what’s confusing is they will offer the same features.

Both electric scooters are ideal for older children or young people starting from around 9 years old but Razor themselves recommend the usage from 13 years old. They are coming with a throttle as a way to speed the scooter and since the two can go pretty fast, it is safe to wear a helmet. In comparison Razor E300 and E325 are identical to each other and what you can find on the former will also present on the latter so we do think we can go amazing with any of them.

Razor E300 and E325 Design

As you can see from the sample picture above, the two come with the same design and they look exactly like each other. At first we thought the latter would be a bigger model than E300 which is great for older children or for added comfort but they are the same size and the same weight as well around 42 to 43 lbs., pretty light for a scooter that can run for hours. They are coming with the battery already and need to be charged quite often depending on how frequent it is being used.

Both come with the same 24V batteries from two 12V units with variable running times. The scooter itself is made of stainless steel both on the frame and fork to give a solid ride and a little extra they are also coming with a kick-stand, very convenient to park the unit. The throttle handle however, is padded but somehow not the best in comfort or texture. The maximum weight recommended for these scooters is 220 pounds.

Razor E300 and E325 Motor

Moving further, let’s see what Razor E300 and E325 can offer and starting from the motor, the two are actually paired with the same engine or a 250-watt, high torque engine to drive and carry the weight. The maximum speed of these scooters is claimed to be up to 15 miles per hour or about 24 kilometers per hour. One thing that we want to mention again is none of the two are variable speed variants which means the throttle is just on/off-ing the scooter.

With this type of throttle, it is a bit difficult to get used to since we can’t adjust the speed but they are not very fast either and that can get quite out of hand. What you need to do is switch the throttle and ride the scooter while maintaining the balance and brake.

Razor E300 and E325 Wheel

Next we want to talk about the wheel and tire as it affects the ride quality of Razor E300 and E325 but again, both of them are identical with a 9mm pneumatic tire which means ride comfort will be better as they are a bit softer. Sadly there is no suspension in any of the two so having an air-filled tire is a great decision to put some cushioning effect to the ride. They are in general pretty robust but you may need to own a pump in order to inflate them when required.

A larger 9mm tire is pretty well suited for different types of terrains and while they are most comfortable for regular roads, going for some gravel should not be a problem but the battery may drain faster since we are facing a more challenging terrain and do consider the chance of puncture as well.

Razor E300 and E325 Brake

Lastly we want to talk about the brake and as you can guess, the two Razor E300 and E325 are coming with handbrakes and this is very convenient as children can get used to the mechanism in no time. They are rear brake as well so the stopping force will be safer instead of front brake. Yet, we still recommend to press it slowly at higher speed since the children may get abruptly stopping and lose balance if the brake suddenly stops.

Razor E300 Vs E325

Both Razor E300 and E325 are the same scooter with different names and specification wise you can get the same features in both models. Razor did list that E325 has a slightly longer battery life and slightly lower weight but in practice it is not making a noticeable difference which makes it more confusing as to why there are two models with the same specification.

- With its super-sized deck and frame, the Razor E300 electric scooter is ready to roll for teen and adult riders up to 220 pounds (100 kg)
- Powered by a 250-watt, high-torque, single-speed, chain-driven motor that delivers a top speed of up to 15 mph (24 km/h)

All in all since the two can offer the same features, we recommend saving some and getting the E300 because it is more affordable but has the same battery, same motor, and same speed range with the same rear hand-brake as well.
