Two of the most popular brands of self-balancing scooters right now are Swagtron and Hoverboard. Both Swagtron and Hoverboard products are known for the superior quality and performance. So, choosing from their models can be quite confusing and difficult, like the case with Swagtron T1 and Powerboard. These two models are currently available in a similar price range, and both products have received tons of positive reviews from the users. So, which one is actually the better scooter? Read the comparison below to determine your choice!
Design
Both Swagtron T1 and Powerboard have been made similarly rugged and durable. These self-balancing scooters have a similar weight limit, which is 220 lbs. Both models already have the UL 2272 certification, which means that they both have passed all electrical safety tests. The ruggedized housing will keep these scooters intact even when exposed to a heavy impact; their batteries are nearly indestructible. (Read also: Swagtron T1 vs T5)
However, Swagtron T1 and Powerboard do have slightly different designs. Swagtron T1 has a more classy and industrial appearance, mostly due to the high-gloss finish and the shape of the wheels that resemble a car’s wheel. On the other hand, Powerboard looks simpler and more casual. Unfortunately, the surface of Powerboard tends to show scratches very easily. Swagtron T1 is available in more color variants, such as black, white, blue, red, pink, and gold. Powerboard is mostly available in black, white, and red.
Features
Both models have been equipped with headlights, which are very useful for traveling at night. With the lights, you will be able to see the road in front of you. Also equally important, the lights ensure that other pedestrians and drivers can see you on the road to avoid an unnecessary accident. Both models also have built-in learning mode, allowing beginners and first-timers to adapt and get used to the controls. Swagtron T1 is coming with the Swagtron SentryShield smart battery management system, which will safely slow down the scooter if the battery is running low instead of stopping abruptly.
Performance
Nevertheless, Powerboard is indeed able to run faster. Powerboard’s maximum speed is 10 mph, which is higher than Swagtron T1. Powerboard also boasts superior response and control that enables you to turn and corner at high speed. Swagtron T1’s top speed is only 8 mph, but it can go as far as 11 miles per charge.
Conclusion
If you prefer a fast scooter, then Powerboard should be your choice. It has a higher top speed. But if you are fine with the slightly lower speed, then Swagtron T1’s good-looking design can be a very nice alternative.
